A plane took me down
To my mother's side
In time to watch her die

Cruised in to that
Other world and time
We’re not prepared to try

Stepped up by her side
And held her hand
That once held mine so tight

The mom who
Stayed awake for me
Those many, many nights

I saw her eyes, far gone they were
To a place we'll never know
I kissed her head, her cheeks, her lips
And wished she would not go

I sang her favorite song to her
Placed flowers in her hair
And spoke my last few words to her
With tears I had to share

“Let yourself ride away now, mom
To the dearest place there can be,
Where the one and only man you loved
Is waiting for you to see.

No more need to worry now
These things we cannot change
Fly away to the misty heaven
It has an angel with your name.”
